Dwayne Richard Joust 2 DVD

    Just a few months after the first two DVD releases from top player's recent performances (Brandon Erickson on Star Wars and Don Hayes on Millipede), CAGDC is proud to present yet another incredible arcade gaming DVD release.  And, like the last DVD (featuring Don Hayes), it's from a player who is a member of the CAGDC Hall of Fame  -  Dwayne Richard.  In just a few months of play, he mastered the extremely difficult title Joust 2, and with the incentive of a $2500 bounty, went on to not only achieve the conditions of that bounty (clear level 99), but he thoroughly exceeded them !  On June 14, 2005, Dwayne notched a world record score of 2,655,600 points, making it all the way to level 133.  His score was (unbelievably) more than five times the previous record of 518,800, set on just over a week earlier (on June 5th) by Brian Kuh.  I'd say that, even tho Joust 2 is not a very 'popular' (or even common) title, that kind of leapfrogging over a previous record is unprecedented.

    As with all of my DVD's, you can get a preview of Dwayne's remarkable performance.  I've set up a clip below that shows part of his game - just click the video window, or the play button, to start it up.  Of course, be assured that the DVD has a lot better detail and quality than this small preview does !  In addition, the DVD is marked off in 6 minute length chapters, to allow for ease of skipping ahead in the game.  After Dwayne winds things up (and, with a suitable profane comment, like he laces throughout the performance), he zooms the camera in to prove his point total.  You'll even see him make a mistake afterward (he wanted to continue the game, and see what level he'd start out on; but, he mistakenly pressed the wrong buttons).  Check back soon for some exclusive commentary from him, which will appear below the video clip.
